Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Pride Celebrations

Dear 2009 Pride Participants:

Warm regards and best wishes to all who are celebrating Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride events in coming months. California is the world's richest and most diverse society and the State's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities are among our State's most significant. Throughout my life in public service, whether as a Legislator, California Attorney General or State Treasurer, the importance of equal rights for all and fighting the battles to achieve equality have always been of the utmost importance to me. The acceptance of alternative lifestyles in this State is not yet complete, and these past six plus months have been a time of both bitter disappointment and great courage within the GLBT community. Much has changed, but not enough and it is events like GLBT Pride that foster respect and strength within your communities and throughout California.

I celebrate your success, and I look forward to your ultimate success in bringing full equality to the GLBT community.
